Solid Wood Construction

Reclaimed Mixed Hardwoods including Mahogany, Mango and Mindi. Mahogany is a commercially important wood prized for its beauty, durability, and color. It allows the deep penetration of a hand rubbed stain producing a deep rich grain quality finish. Mango, being one of the hardest and heaviest of all the fruit trees, the Mango wood has many qualities including the lumber is porous enough to allow the deep penetration of a hand rubbed stain producing a deep rich grain quality finish. Mindi is white cedar. Eco-Friendly and Sustainable: All woods are plantation grown.

Finish

Grand Louie features a two tone lightly stressed finish over highly prepared solid hardwoods, that when combined, creates a fresh and new age finish for the Grand Louie collection. It is top coated with lacquer for added protection. Our finishes are state of the art and very complex and it shows in the end results as we put more time and attention to detail in our finish than most any other company.

Construction

Cases: All solid wood pieces are double sealed before assembly to insure correct and consistent moisture content. Case Tops: Tops are a floating top construction which allows natural movement of wood and eliminates cracking and checking. All cases are corner blocked at every possible joint providing a stout frame. Cases are all dust paneled and have adjustable feet which allow for levelling on uneven floors. Drawers: Dresser, Chest and Footboard Storage contain aromatic red Tennessee cedar in the bottom drawer which is a natural insect repellent. English dovetail joinery, Mortise and Tenon construction, corner blocked, and center supported for rigid strength with full extension heavy drawer guides. Drawer Fronts: Unique old-world technique of solid wood drawer fronts. Bed: Solid mahogany center support rail attached by a steel bracket to the headboard and footboard making the bed one of the strongest in the industry. Bed Slat system: The Solid Mahogany Bed slats are beautifully finished.
