Kick Plastic Out of Bed

Just say no to petroleum-based plastics in bed. We don’t use synthetic foams or plastic grids — just the same wonderful GOLS-certified organic natural latex from our farms that made Avocado mattresses so famous — and safe. Our Eco Organic Kids Mattress is GREENGUARD Gold Certified and Formaldehyde Free Certified by UL Environment. That means the mattress is scientifically tested for prolonged exposure in environmental chambers to meet rigorous emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, and phthalates. Few mattresses and pillows qualify for this gold standard. Our Eco Organic Kids Mattress is even MADE SAFE® certified — a rigorous scientific screening process that only allows the use of ingredients that are not known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems.

Blockchain Verified Materials

GOTS-Certified Organic Wool - Sourced from our GOTS (CU863637) and Responsible Wool Standard farms in the Himalayas, our wool is a renewable resource with incredible temperature regulation. It’s also a natural replacement for the cheap chemical flame retardants and fiberglass fire socks in traditional mattresses.

GOTS-Certified Organic Cotton - We use GOTS-certified organic cotton (CU863637) ticking, with no polyester mixed in like other brands, and an elegant organic cotton canvas on the base. Sourced from India, Turkey, Canada, and North Carolina.

Steel Coils Made with Recycled Steel - We make our own 6” steel coils in our factory. That ensures quality, durable craftsmanship, and the lightweight coils make the mattress easy to move while delivering the breathable support your kid needs.

Our Eco Organic Kids Mattress is made in our GOTS-certified factory in Los Angeles with the best organic materials from around the world. GOTS validates that we provide our factory team with fair wages and safe working conditions. GOTS also prohibits using toxic chemicals commonly used in textile processing that can cause cancer, birth defects, and other serious illnesses. Simply put, it's better for your child and the planet.

Low Profile Design

The Eco Organic Mattress is 7 inches tall. Mattresses on bunk beds and trundles should be no higher than 8 inches to ensure kids stay within the bounds of the guardrails and have sufficient headroom. A low profile also improves bunk bed stability. A lower mattress height reduces the risk of injury from falls. This is especially important for young children who may roll off the bed while sleeping or when they're playing on the bed

GOLS Certified Organic Latex

We use GOLS-certified organic Dunlop latex (CU863637), which is also Rainforest Alliance and FSC® certified (C156318). We make our GOLS-certified organic latex from co-owned farmer's societies and processing facilities in India and Guatemala, operating under the USDA's National Organic Program. It's made with ≥95% certified organic latex, the highest possible standard. Dunlop latex is naturally antimicrobial, cooler than memory foam, requires no adhesives to seam it together, and is more durable than Talalay latex. It is processed in a GOLS organic certified facility in India that we also co-own. Our Eco Organic Mattress uses one seamless layer of organic latex — 1 inch in the comfort layer (D65 / 14-19 ILD, soft). Our organic latex also features certifications from Rainforest Alliance, eco-INSTITUT®, and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 (19.0.79546, Hohenstein HTTI).

Innerspring Unit

We craft our 6-inch coils with recycled steel in our facility. Encased in a food-grade polypropylene fabric (non-woven and non-toxic), these premium springs float independently to improve airflow, support, and spinal alignment. This mattress should not be stored in an upright position when not in use.

No Flame Retardants

No flame retardants of any kind are used. In its place, our Eco Organic Kids Mattress uses only GOTS-certified organic wool, which is naturally fire-resistant. This wool has also been tested for harmful substances and meets Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI). Of course, as a MADE SAFE® Certified product, we never use chemical treatments, rayon blends, or fiberglass fiber fire socks.

Climate Neutral Certified

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

Project Zero Waste

We're proud to be certified by UL Solutions for a landfill diversion rate of 85%. That means only 15% of our manufacturing waste ends up in the landfill — we upcycle or recycle the rest. Since we began Project Zero Waste in 2020, we've been a pioneer in the space, increasing our waste diversion rate by 33%. We are the first mattress and bedding company to achieve this. But we aren't done yet. Our goal is at least a 90% diversion rate.

New Paper Wrap Packaging

Mattress ships in a convenient rectangular box. The Eco Organic Mattress is vacuum sealed in recyclable plastic, but will soon be wrapped and rolled in upcycled paper — saving up to 30 feet of plastic per mattress! Paper can be recycled. This eco-friendly process is used on 90% of our mattresses. Avocado is one of the only mattress makers in America to wrap their mattresses in paper.

10-Year Limited Warranty

The Eco Organic Kids Mattress is covered by a 10-year limited warranty. All foundations, bunkie boards, bed frames, and adjustable bases sold by Avocado have been specifically designed to meet the structural support requirements of this warranty if used correctly and unaltered. Foundations, bunkie boards, bed frames, and adjustable bases purchased from third-party vendors (not purchased from Avocado) must meet the minimum structural requirements outlined in our warranty.
