Our Eco Organic Mattress is a game-changer. It’s a GOTS-certified organic mattress (CU863637) now available at polyurethane foam mattress prices. How do we do it? No middlemen. We only use GOLS-certified organic latex and GOTS-certified organic wool from our farms in India and Guatemala. We make our patent-pending innerspring unit, delivering body-contouring support with up to 962 individually wrapped coils. We never use chemical flame retardants, polyurethane foams, fiberglass, or adhesives to bind the layers. The mattress is even certified to MADE SAFE® standards, for which only three mattress brands worldwide have qualified.

Back-Loving Support

Our innerspring support system features up to 1,174 fabric-encased innerspring coils — more coils than almost every competitor in this class. These 8-inch coils flex independently. They're firm enough for back and stomach sleepers and even growing kids, yet soft enough for side sleepers and heavier body types. The American Chiropractic Association has endorsed Avocado mattresses since 2020.

Naturally Cool

Mother Nature knows best. Wool keeps you cool and dry in summer and warm in winter. Latex features an open-cell structure that keeps you from sinking in and trapping heat. Body contouring coils are individually wrapped for effective airflow. Don’t sweat a thing!

Organic Latex - Our Dunlop latex is GOLS-certified organic (CU863637) and FSC® certified, sourced from farms and facilities in India and Guatemala. It's made with 95 percent or more organic material.

Organic Wool - Our GOTS-certified organic wool (CU863637) is sourced from herds in the Himalayas. It's a renewable resource with exceptional temperature regulation and inherent fire resistance properties.

Organic Cotton - We use GOTS-certified organic cotton (CU863637) ticking and an elegant organic cotton canvas on the base, sourced from India, Turkey, Canada, and North Carolina.

Coil Made with Recycled Steel - Made in our factory from double-tempered recycled steel wire in two premium gauges for improved durability, with a reinforced header and side rails for proper edge support.

Made Safe

Our Eco Organic Mattress is certified to MADE SAFE® standards. This process screens for chemicals known or suspected to harm human health, animals, aquatic life, or ecosystems. Few mattress brands in the world meet this gold standard of safety.

Safe Emissions

The Eco Organic Mattress is also GREENGUARD Gold Certified and Formaldehyde-Free Claim Verified by the UL Environment. That means they’re scientifically tested for prolonged exposure in environmental chambers to meet rigorous emissions standards for chemical exposure and pollutants, such as volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, and phthalates. Few mattresses and pillows qualify for both of these gold standards.

Comfort Feel

With a medium-firm feel, our Eco Organic Mattress is ideal for side sleepers, as well as back sleepers and stomach sleepers. It provides optimized pressure relief and contours to your body’s natural curves. It is slightly less firm than our Avocado Green Mattress.

Innerspring Unit

We use up to 962 8" springs (in the California King). Made in our manufacturing facility, our border coils are a meaty 14.5 gauge, and interior zone coils are 12 gauge. (Higher gauges mean a thinner coil. Thicker coils deliver greater durability.) Encased in a food-grade polypropylene fabric (non-woven and non-toxic), these premium springs float independently to further improve airflow, support, and spinal alignment.

Held Together with Rings, Not Glue

Some companies use toxic chemical glues to bind their mattress layers together, which contributes to off-gassing and indoor air pollution. We do not. Instead, we use simple durable metal rings made from recycled steel to keep our mattress layers firmly in place. This mattress should not be stored in an upright position when not in use.

No Flame Retardants

No flame retardants are used. Our Eco Organic Mattress uses only GOTS-certified organic wool, which is naturally fire-resistant. This wool has also been tested for harmful substances and meets STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®: Class 1 certification (19.HIN.68466, Hohenstein HTTI). Of course, as a MADE SAFE® Certified product, we do not use other chemical treatments, rayon blends, or fiberglass fiber fire socks are used.

Firmness Rating and Performance Testing

On a scale of 1 - 10 (with 10 being the firmest), our Eco Organic Mattress rates as a 5, which is gentle yet medium firm. It's ideally suited for back and stomach sleepers, as well as lighter individuals and growing children — anyone needing natural cushioning and medium-firm support.

Climate Neutral Certified

As a Climate Neutral Certified company since 2019, we've measured Avocado's annual cradle-to-consumer emissions, offset them by investing in climate change solutions, and started taking real action to reduce our emissions. We also recognize our offsets and reductions aren't enough. Solving climate change will require systemic solutions. That's why, through our partnerships with Ceres and the American Sustainable Business Network, we also advocate for state and federal policies that support equitable solutions to the climate crisis.

Project Zero Waste

We're proud to be certified by UL Solutions for a landfill diversion rate of 85%. That means only 15% of our manufacturing waste ends up in the landfill — we upcycle or recycle the rest. Since we began Project Zero Waste in 2020, we've been a pioneer in the space, increasing our waste diversion rate by 33%. We are the first mattress and bedding company to achieve this. But we aren't done yet. Our goal is at least a 90% diversion rate.

New Paper Wrap Packaging

Mattress ships in a convenient rectangular box. The Eco Organic Mattress is vacuum sealed in recyclable plastic, but will soon be wrapped and rolled in upcycled paper — saving up to 30 feet of plastic per mattress! Paper can be recycled. This eco-friendly process is used on 90% of our mattresses. Avocado is one of the only mattress makers in America to wrap their mattresses in paper.

10-Year Limited Warranty

A 10-year limited warranty covers the Eco Organic Mattress. All foundations, bunkie boards, bed frames, and adjustable bases sold by Avocado have been specifically designed to meet the structural support requirements of this warranty if used correctly and unaltered. Foundations, bunkie boards, bed frames, and adjustable bases purchased from third-party vendors (not purchased from Avocado) must meet the minimum structural requirements outlined in our warranty.
